SUMMARY:Lunch-Éclair d'IES-Montréal
DESCRIPTION:How We Light Outdoor Spaces\, The New Rules \n 16 septem
 bre 2028 \n Courtyard Montréal Aéroport7000 Place Robert-Joncas\, Mo
 ntreal\, Quebec H4M 2Z5ANSI/IES RP8-21\, Recommended Practice for Design a
nd Maintenance of Roadway and Parking Facility Lighting\, the Illuminating
Engineering Society et TM-15-20 \n Description \n In creating AN
SI/IES RP8-21\, Recommended Practice for Design and Maintenance of Roadway
and Parking Facility Lighting\, the Illuminating Engineering Society\, in
chapter 17\, changed the way we look at lighting in parking lots and park
ing garages. We are now able to conform with lower light levels if we have
a better uniformity ratio. In this presentation we explore this and some
of the underlying studies that brought us to this point and the applicatio
n of the standard. We also explore TM-15-20\, Lighting Classification Syste
m\, also known as BUG ratings.  As part of this we explain why the old cu
toff rating system no longer exists for LED fixtures and absolute vs relat
 ive photometry\, LM-79. \n Learning Objectives \n Review of RP-8-
21We will explore the changes made to IES recommendations for parking lots
and garages over the years moving us to minimum maintained from average i
lluminance. We will explore uniformity ratios and why they are important. We
will look at lumen per watt efficacy and lumens to explore how they can b
e misleading.Review key fundamentals of LCS (Luminaire Classification Syst
em) and TM15-20.We will discuss the need for a new system to evaluate outd
oor luminaires\, BUG rating system. We will review the difference between a
bsolute photometry and relative photometry and how this has caused depreca
tion of the old Cutt-Off rating system. We will explain the Lighting Classi
fication System and review Lighting Zone zero to four. \n Présentate
ur \n Rick GottliebRick Gottlieb has been involved with LED lighting s
ince it’s infancy.  He was on Lumileds LED specification advisory counc
il in 2003. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. He has b
een in the lighting and lighting controls industry for 25 years and has ac
ted as vice president sales for two specification grade lighting manufactu
