 rmational technologies can dramatically shift industries seemingly overnig
 ht. LED luminaires\, driven primarily by econmoic value\, had such an impa
 ct on the lighting industry. Still\, short of significant economic benefit
 \, change for the lighting industry and its stakeholders seems to move slo
 wly.Aligning and agreeing on important principles across the industry is a
 lso made difficult by multiple sales channels and diverse industry partici
 pants\, including “purchasers of light”. Purchasers of light are typic
 ally non-lighting professionals\, frequently relying on others for guidanc
 e and are often price conscience\, disproportionally valuing low cost over
  highest value.In this course we consider the IES and IDA’s jointly adop
 ted resolutions regarding the Five Principles for Responsible Outdoor Ligh
 ting. What are they and how can we\, as lighting influencers\, help educat
 e the industry and apply these principles for better outcomes in our outdo
 or environments\, while implementing highest valued solutions for our cust
 omers		\n			Présentateur invité		\n		Douane HendersonDouane Henderson\, 
 LC (Lighting Certified) currently leads Cree Lighting’s Training &amp\; 
 Education efforts. In his role as a lighting educator\, he has interacted 
 with thousands of lighting stakeholders\, sharing his knowledge accumulate
 d from more than 30 years in the lighting industry\, while gaining valuabl
 e customer insight.He began his lighting career with Ruud Lighting in Raci
 ne\, Wisconsin. During his time with Ruud\, he held a variety of positions
  and engaged with a broad range of lighting stakeholders. Douane was also 
 part of the BetaLED team that introduced the industry’s first complete l
 ine of exterior LED lighting fixtures in 2007\, followed by the industry
 ’s first highly adopted LED streetlight\, LEDway\, in 2008.In addition\,
  Duane has presented at the Street and Area Lighting Conference\, a nation
 al lighting conference\, in each of the past two years.		\n
